Matthew 4:18–22: Immediate Obedience to Jesus

Jesus did not issue a general invitation to be religious. He summoned four working men to follow a person, and the text shows them leaving their nets at once. Their immediacy is presented as the fitting shape of a response to Jesus, not as a technique for getting results.
