A Simple Biblical Guide to Receiving Christ by Faith
Introduction
There is one decision that changes everything.
Not because it makes life instantly easy.
Not because it fixes every problem overnight.
Not because religion suddenly becomes part of your routine.
But because Jesus Christ offers what no one else can:
forgiveness, new life, peace with God, and the hope of eternity.
If you have ever wondered what it means to become a Christian, this guide will walk you through the Gospel in a clear, biblical way.
Following Jesus is not about becoming religious enough for God to accept you.
It is about trusting that Jesus has done what you could never do for yourself.

“Jesus saves. A prayer does not save you by itself, but a prayer can be a sincere way to express your faith in Him.”
What Does It Mean to Follow Jesus?
Following Jesus means turning from sin, trusting Him as Savior and Lord, and beginning a new life with God.
The Bible teaches that God created you to know Him, love Him, and walk with Him. But sin has separated every person from God. No amount of good behavior, religious activity, or personal effort can remove that separation.
That is why Jesus came.
He lived the perfect life we have not lived.
He died the death our sin deserved.
He rose again in victory.
And He invites us to repent, believe, and follow Him.
This is the good news of the Gospel.
Four Foundational Truths
1. God Loves You and Created You to Know Him
You were not created by accident. God made you with purpose, dignity, and eternal value. His desire is that you would know Him, walk with Him, and experience life in relationship with Him.
God’s love is not vague or distant. He has revealed His love through Jesus Christ.

John 3:16
John 17:3
Genesis 1:27
Reflection Question
Have you thought of God as distant, angry, or uninterested — or as the One who created you to know Him?
2. Sin Separates Us from God
The problem is not only that the world is broken. The problem is that we are broken by sin.
Sin is more than making mistakes. Sin is rejecting God’s authority, choosing our own way, and falling short of His holiness. Because God is holy, sin separates us from Him.
This is why every person needs forgiveness.

Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23
Isaiah 59:2
Reflection Question
Are you willing to admit your need for God’s forgiveness?
3. Jesus Christ Died and Rose Again to Rescue Us
God did not leave us separated from Him.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to save sinners. He died on the cross in our place, taking the judgment our sin deserved. Then He rose from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death.
Jesus is not one option among many. He is the way to the Father.

1 Peter 3:18
Reflection Question
Do you believe Jesus died for your sins and rose again?
4. You Can Receive Christ by Faith and Begin Following Him Today
Knowing the facts about Jesus is not the same as trusting Him.
The Bible calls us to respond personally. We receive Christ by faith, turning from sin and trusting Him as Savior and Lord.
This is not about earning salvation. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace.
You can receive Christ today.
Biblical Foundation
John 1:12
Ephesians 2:8-9
Romans 10:9-13
Revelation 3:20
Reflection Question
Are you ready to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord?
A Simple Prayer of Faith
If you are ready to make that decision, you can respond to God in simple faith.
You might pray:
Jesus, I know I have sinned and need Your forgiveness. I believe You died for me and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust You as my Savior and Lord. Lead my life from this day forward. Amen.
A prayer does not save you by itself.
Jesus saves.
But a prayer like this can be a sincere way to express your faith in Him.

What Happens Next?
If you have decided to follow Jesus, this is not the end of your spiritual journey.
It is the beginning.
God does not call you to follow Him alone. One of the most important next steps you can take is to get connected to a faithful local church where you can grow, worship, learn Scripture, be baptized, receive communion, and walk with other believers.
Christianity is not meant to be lived in isolation.
Your Next Step: Don’t Walk Alone
Look for a church where:
The Bible is taught clearly.
Jesus Christ is central.
The Gospel is proclaimed.
Prayer, worship, baptism, communion, and discipleship are practiced.
People will help you grow as a follower of Jesus.

What Should I Do This Week?
If you have made a decision to follow Jesus, here are five practical next steps:
1. Tell Someone
Tell a trusted Christian friend, pastor, mentor, or family member that you have decided to follow Jesus.
2. Start Reading the Bible
A good place to begin is the Gospel of John. Read slowly and ask: “What does this show me about Jesus?”
3. Begin Praying
Prayer is simply talking with God. Thank Him, confess your sins, ask for help, and bring your needs to Him.
4. Find a Local Church
Do not wait until you feel ready. Find a faithful church and begin attending.
5. Be Baptized
Baptism is the public sign that you belong to Jesus. Ask a pastor or church leader about taking this step.
