Luke 14:25–33: Counting the Cost of Discipleship

Jesus does not recruit a crowd by lowering the price. He turns to the multitudes and puts the arithmetic of discipleship in front of them: a tower half built and a war half fought are public failures, and so is a life that follows him without reckoning what following means.
