Genesis 2:18–24: Marriage as God's Good Idea
Genesis 2:18–24 presents marriage as God's own initiative, not a human custom: God names aloneness as not good, forms a comparable helper, and brings her to the man. The text describes God's good design without promising that everyone will marry or that every marriage will be happy.
Genesis 2:25: Naked and Not Ashamed
Genesis 2:25 pictures the first husband and wife with nothing hidden and nothing to fear, and the text treats shame as an intruder that arrives later, not as a built-in feature of marriage. A marriage moves toward that freedom as two people learn to be known without hiding, on the ground of God's grace rather than their performance.
God's Design for Marriage in Genesis 2:18–24
Marriage in Genesis 2 is God's own answer to a need God himself named, not a human arrangement. The man's leaving, joining, and one-flesh union with his wife is the pattern the text presents as built into creation.
