Jesus Washes Feet: Do You Know What I Have Done?
Jesus, knowing he came from God and was returning to God, took the towel of a household servant and washed the feet of the men who followed him, including the one who would betray him. Then he asked them whether they understood what he had done, and told them that knowing it only counts if they do it.
Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet: John 13 Meaning
Jesus knew where he came from and where he was going, and with that authority he took a towel and washed his disciples' feet, including the feet of the man who would betray him. He gave that action as a pattern, and he placed the blessing in doing what his followers know, not in knowing it.
