Luke presents the virgin birth not as a legend to be defended but as an announcement made in advance, spoken by an angel and received by a young woman in faith. The initiative belongs entirely to God.
Luke 1:38: Mary's Call and the Cost
Mary's answer to the angel is a self-description before it is a surrender: she calls herself the servant of the Lord, then asks that his word be done to her. The text gives us her willing consent, not a forecast of how her life will feel afterward.
