Jesus’ parable reveals God’s joyful welcome of repentant sinners and exposes the resentful self-righteousness that refuses to celebrate grace.

Genesis 50:20 teaches that Joseph’s brothers truly intended evil while God sovereignly intended the same history for saving good; providence neither excuses sin nor calls evil good.

God's command to be strong and courageous was first given to Joshua as he led Israel into the land under the Mosaic covenant. Its enduring lesson is courage rooted in God's presence, promise, and word—not confidence that every modern venture is divinely guaranteed.

Isaiah 40:31 promises that those who hope in the Lord receive strength to endure their God-given path because the everlasting Creator does not grow weary or abandon his people.

Psalm 51 models repentance that appeals to God’s mercy, names guilt without excuse, seeks inner renewal, and longs for restored worship and faithful witness.

Psalm 37:4 does not promise every unexamined wish. To delight in the Lord is to treasure him within a life of trust, patience, and righteousness; he then gives desires shaped by his goodness and ultimately vindicates his people.

Revelation 21:4 promises that in God’s renewed creation he will dwell with his people and finally remove death, grief, crying, and pain because the old fallen order has passed away.

“God is love” means self-giving holy love belongs to God’s character and is decisively revealed in sending his Son; it does not mean every human desire called love receives divine approval.

In Christ, believers together are a chosen people, royal priesthood, holy nation, and God's possession so that they proclaim his excellencies. The identity is corporate, grace-given, and missional—not a claim of ethnic superiority or personal celebrity.

James 2:17 teaches that a claim to faith which never produces obedient love is lifeless and cannot save; genuine faith is shown to be alive by its works.

Hebrews 12:1–2 calls believers to lay aside hindrances and sin, endure the race God sets before them, and fix attention on Jesus, faith’s pioneer and perfecter.

Rejoicing always, praying without ceasing, and giving thanks in every circumstance describe a Godward pattern for the whole Christian life. Paul does not require nonstop speech, denial of grief, or gratitude for evil itself.

Colossians 3:17 means every word and action should accord with Jesus’ character and authority and be offered thankfully to the Father through him.

Philippians 4:8 calls Christians to give sustained attention to what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy, then to practice apostolic teaching.

Philippians 1:6 expresses Paul's confidence that God, who began his saving work among the Philippians, will carry it to completion at Christ's return. It encourages perseverance without promising that every personal project or desire will succeed.

Ephesians 2:10 teaches that salvation creates a people in union with Christ who are meant to walk in good works God has prepared, though those works never earn salvation.

Second Corinthians 12:9 means Christ’s grace is enough to sustain Paul in an unremoved weakness, so divine power is displayed through dependence rather than self-exalting strength.

Calling the body a temple means the Christian's embodied life belongs to God because the Holy Spirit dwells within. Paul uses this truth to reject sexual immorality and affirm bodily resurrection, purchased belonging, and worship through the body.

Romans 12:1 calls believers, in response to God’s mercies, to offer their whole embodied lives to God as holy, ongoing worship.

Romans 10:9 teaches that salvation belongs to those who genuinely trust that God raised Jesus and openly confess him as Lord; it is not a magic formula detached from faith and allegiance.
