Matthew 4:18–22: Immediate Obedience to Jesus
Jesus did not issue a general invitation to be religious. He summoned four working men to follow a person, and the text shows them leaving their nets at once. Their immediacy is presented as the fitting shape of a response to Jesus, not as a technique for getting results.
Matthew 4:1–11: Jesus Tempted in the Wilderness
Matthew 4:1–11 shows Jesus, just named God's beloved Son, led by the Spirit into the wilderness to face a real tempter. Each temptation pressed him to misuse his sonship, and each time he answered from what is written.
