Ephesians 5:18–20: Why We Sing in Church
Paul does not treat singing as a warm-up before the real meeting. In Ephesians 5:18–20 it is one of the ordinary marks of a congregation filled with the Spirit, addressed to one another and to the Lord at once.
Ephesians 5:19: Singing and Melody in the Heart
Ephesians 5:19 shows what Spirit-filled life sounds like: believers speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs while singing to the Lord from the heart. The verse settles the singing and the heart posture, not the handclap.
