David faces Goliath with a sling and a claim: the fight is not finally about weapons but about who is God. He comes in Yahweh's name and says plainly that the battle belongs to Yahweh.

David does not pretend the sword and spear are nothing. He sets them beside the name of Yahweh of Armies and says the battle is God's, not the weapon's.
