Luke 2:8–14: Angels Announce Jesus to Shepherds
Luke 2:8–14 records that God sent the announcement of Jesus' birth to shepherds on night watch rather than to rulers, and gave them a feeding trough as the sign. The child is named Savior, Christ, and Lord, and the heavenly army answers with glory to God and peace on earth.
Luke 2:8–20: Shepherds Keeping Watch by Night
The birth announced to Mary is announced again to ordinary night-shift workers. Luke gives the shepherds a title and a plain sign, and then shows what they did with it.
