Jeremiah 29:4–7: Seek the Peace of the City
Jeremiah 29:4–7 tells exiles to build houses, plant gardens, and seek the welfare of a pagan city. Settled, ordinary faithfulness there was obedience, not compromise, and it came as a command rather than a promise of results.
Jeremiah 29:7: Seek the Peace of Your City
Jeremiah 29:4–7 records God's letter to the exiles in Babylon: settle in, live ordinary lives, and seek the peace of the city where he placed you. The command is grounded in God's own purpose, not in a guarantee that the city will return the favor.
