Paul's farewell to the Ephesian elders gives no credential checklist but a portrait of shepherd character: humility, tears, unshrinking declaration of the whole counsel of God, and freedom from greed. The elders are told to watch themselves first, because wolves will come, and the outcome is entrusted to God and the word of his grace.
