Tamar, Rahab, Ruth: Women in Jesus' Genealogy

Matthew opens his Gospel by tracing Jesus back through David to Abraham, and the line he draws runs through Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Uriah's wife. The genealogy is a claim about who Jesus is and about the grace that carried God's purpose through complicated people.
