How Do I Grow in Faith? 2 Peter 1 and Grace Upon Grace
Growing in faith starts with what God's power has already granted, not with our effort. Peter then calls us to add diligence and a connected chain of character that ends in love.
1 Timothy 4:7–8: Training Toward Godliness
Paul tells Timothy to train himself toward godliness, and he grounds that command in a comparison with bodily exercise. Godliness is worth more because it carries God's promise for this life and the next, not because training earns favor.
2 Peter 1:5–7: The Shape of Godly Character
Peter does not hand us eight separate virtues to collect. He describes one life-shape, each quality supplying what the next requires, and he grounds the whole effort in what God has already granted.
