Philippians 4:13: Contentment, Not Prosperity
Paul does not promise that faith turns lack into abundance. He describes a learned contentment that holds in both plenty and hunger, and he says Christ is what strengthens him to face either.
1 Timothy 6:6–10: Godliness With Contentment
Paul does not deny that godliness brings gain. He redefines gain as godliness joined to contentment, and warns that the desire to be rich is a trap that has pulled some away from the faith.
