This chapter describes how Hezekiah reorganized the temple worship and the people responded with generous giving. It also shows the careful administration of the offerings and the blessing that followed.

Second Chronicles 30 recounts King Hezekiah's decree to celebrate the Passover in the second month, sending couriers throughout Israel and Judah to call the people back to Yahweh. Despite mockery from some, many humble themselves, the assembly removes idolatrous altars, and Hezekiah prays for those not properly cleansed, leading to great joy and extended feasting.

Hezekiah became king and immediately reopened and repaired the temple, calling the Levites to sanctify themselves and remove uncleanness. He restored proper worship with sacrifices, music, and thanksgiving, and the people rejoiced because God had prepared them.

2 Chronicles 28 recounts the reign of King Ahaz of Judah, who embraced idolatry and led his people into severe covenant unfaithfulness. As a result, Judah suffered military defeats and oppression, but God's mercy was shown when a prophet and some Ephraimite leaders intervened to free captive Judeans.

Jotham became king at twenty-five and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, doing right in Yahweh's eyes though he did not enter the temple. He built, fought Ammon, grew mighty, and was buried in David's city, leaving the throne to Ahaz.

2 Chronicles 26 recounts the reign of King Uzziah of Judah, who began well by seeking God and was blessed with military and agricultural success. However, his pride led him to unlawfully burn incense in the temple, resulting in leprosy and his isolation until death.

Second Chronicles 25 recounts the reign of Amaziah, king of Judah, who obeyed God partially but later brought Edomite gods into Judah and suffered a disastrous defeat. His story warns that outward obedience without a whole heart leads to compromise and judgment.

Second Chronicles 24 recounts King Joash's forty-year reign, beginning with his repair of Yahweh's house under Jehoiada the priest and ending with apostasy, the murder of Zechariah, and his own violent death. The chapter contrasts faithful leadership that strengthens the temple with a king who abandons God once his mentor is gone.

In 2 Chronicles 23, Jehoiada the priest organizes a covenant with the captains and Levites to crown Joash, the rightful king, and to protect him. After Athaliah is executed, the people make a covenant with Yahweh, destroy Baal worship, and restore the temple order.

Ahaziah reigns briefly in Judah, follows the counsel of Ahab's house, and is killed when Jehu executes judgment. Athaliah then seizes power and destroys the royal offspring, but Jehoshabeath hides Joash in God's house for six years.

2 Chronicles 21 recounts the reign of Jehoram, who murdered his brothers, promoted idolatry, and led Judah into prostitution. Despite warnings from Elijah, he persisted, so God brought foreign invasions and a painful disease that ended his life without honor.

2 Chronicles 20 recounts how King Jehoshaphat of Judah faced a massive coalition of enemies by proclaiming a fast and seeking Yahweh. God answered through a prophet, assuring them the battle was His, and He caused the enemy armies to destroy each other while Judah worshiped.

After Jehoshaphat returns from an alliance with wicked Ahab, the seer Jehu confronts him but acknowledges good in him. Jehoshaphat then travels through Judah, brings the people back to Yahweh, and appoints judges in fortified cities and Jerusalem, charging them to judge with the fear of Yahweh and without partiality or bribes.

2 Chronicles 18 recounts Jehoshaphat's alliance with Ahab and their joint campaign against Ramoth Gilead. Despite Micaiah's prophecy of disaster, Ahab goes to battle in disguise and is killed, while Jehoshaphat is spared by God's intervention.

2 Chronicles 17 recounts Jehoshaphat's reign, highlighting his devotion to Yahweh, his removal of idolatrous high places, and his commissioning of officials to teach the law throughout Judah. As a result, God establishes his kingdom, brings him tribute from surrounding nations, and grants him a formidable army.

In 2 Chronicles 16, King Asa of Judah pays Ben Hadad of Syria to break his treaty with Baasha of Israel, stopping the building of Ramah. The seer Hanani rebukes Asa for relying on Syria rather than Yahweh, and Asa imprisons him; later Asa seeks only physicians for his severe foot disease and dies.

In 2 Chronicles 15, the Spirit of God comes upon Azariah, who tells Asa that Yahweh is with those who seek Him. Asa responds by removing abominations, renewing the altar, and gathering Judah to covenant to seek Yahweh with all their heart, and God gives them rest.

2 Chronicles 14 recounts King Asa's faithful reforms in Judah, removing foreign altars and high places, and his reliance on Yahweh when faced with a massive Ethiopian army. Yahweh grants him rest and a decisive victory, demonstrating that seeking God brings peace and deliverance.

In 2 Chronicles 13, Abijah king of Judah confronts Jeroboam of Israel, who has twice the troops. Abijah appeals to Yahweh's covenant with David and Judah's faithful priesthood, and when Judah cries out in the ambush, God strikes Israel, giving Judah the victory.

Second Chronicles 12 recounts how King Rehoboam, once strong, abandoned Yahweh's law, leading to an Egyptian invasion under Shishak. When Rehoboam and the princes humbled themselves, Yahweh relented from destroying Jerusalem but allowed them to become servants to Egypt, teaching them the difference between serving Yahweh and serving earthly kingdoms.
